New York Comic Con fun! Or, how I'm gonna pay for my Friday, Saturday and Sunday passes 'cause all the 3-day passes sold out!!!

By now, some of you may have heard about the problems many fans experienced while trying to purchase their NYCC 2014 passes last week on ReedPop's website.  For whatever technical reasons, and you can read all the complaints and responses to those complaints on the New York Comic Con Facebook page, most people couldn't get the 3-day pass.  I also could not get that oh-so-delicious golden pass, that $65 pass to comic con goodness.  Instead, when it was my turn on the virtual queue, I dug deep into my pockets and bought a Friday ticket ($45), a Saturday ticket ($55), and a Sunday ticket ($45).  If you don't count my daughter's Kids Day ticket ($5), I shelled out $80 more dollars than I would have wanted to.  But you know what, that's ok!  I'm gonna get back those $80 by doing the following:

1. Sell some of my comics on Ebay:  listen, they're comics, not precious photos of my family.
2. Somehow get a 3-day ticket from a retailer here in NYC and then sell my individual day tickets, at cost.

I'm not a scalper.  All I wanna do is break even.  If I can get a 3-day ticket, I'm gonna make it public and see who wants them.  I'll figure out whom to sell those ticket to if I get lucky enough to get that oh-so-delicious ticket. If I do manage to sell them all at cost, I might actually come out ahead.  But I have to get a 3-day pass first...so right now, I'm in the hole.

In the meantime...I'm going to post these two comics on Ebay soon to start my road back to zero:

This comic came out just last Wednesday.  What makes it so special?  For one thing, the cover is drawn by Jock, some dude who is a really popular artist and who doesn't do covers often, if at all.  So based on several comic book sites, the demand for this issue, which was also under-ordered by retailers, means that it is an opportune time to sell at a fairly decent price.  I actually found the last copy at The Forbidden Planet, and considering it was the last copy, it was in NM- condition, so I got really lucky!  The cost was $3.99.  I'm going to list it at about $11.99.  If I get at least that much, and taking in account Ebay and Paypal costs, let's say I'll end up with a $5 profit.  Not so bad.

This second comic was an unexpected but welcome find from a recent stoop sale here in Brooklyn.  It only cost me a buck.

ASM #607 is special because the cover is drawn by J. Scott Campbell.  The interiors were drawn by someone else but collectors really want anything drawn by JSC on Spider-Man.  I don't know why.  I suppose they like how he draws the Black Cat, but personally, I'll wait to save money to buy her first appearance in ASM #194.  So, this comic is, unfortunately, not in NM- condition.  There are a few minor spine stresses, one of which breaks color, and the back cover has a spine roll.  However, the corners are sharp and the cover is otherwise bright.  All in all, I'm going to call this a VF.  If I post this at $9.99 and I can sell it, after other associated costs, I might be able to turn another $5 profit.

So if I have a good week on Ebay, I'll be $10 closer to breaking even!

If you're interested, look for me on Ebay as greentao.

Be well and happy hunting!
